Cold closed mixes are composed of well graded aggregates with a high proportion of fine material and stable emulsions without fluidising agents. These mixes have a low void content (4-8%) and high mechanical strength, due to the internal friction of the mineral skeleton and the cohesion of the mortar formed by the finer fraction and the residual binder of the emulsion.
