Plastic Soil

Plastic or clayey soils

Electrochemical stabilisation of plastic soils

These types of soils all have similar behaviours. They become soft and sticky when wet and very hard and crackable when dry. CLAY SOILS have a high plasticity index (PI) and are known to be highly reactive to moisture.

For this reason, they are not an ideal type of soil for construction. That is why we need to test the soil in the laboratory and stabilise this type of soil if we want to use it for construction.

IONIC SOIL STABILISATION is focused on CLAY SOILS. The ionic stabiliser will provoke an electrochemical ion exchange reaction with the clay particles, which now rejects the water molecules. This will improve compaction and bearing capacities on dirt roads and keep these conditions stable in bad weather and rainy conditions.

This will also prevent the loss of road surface material and reduce maintenance. This electrochemical ion exchange reaction is permanent and irreversible.

Once this thin film of water is separated from the fine soil particles, they settle and align in such a way that they attract each other. The elimination of all empty spaces between the soil particles leads to a higher soil density.

BINSOL is our STABILISATION solution, specially designed for the STABILISATION OF CLAY SOILS.

IONIC SOIL STABILISATION does not require specialised machinery and is supplied as a concentrated liquid. Only a standard water sweeping system with spray boom is needed to apply dilute solutions to the area.

POLYAST, depending on the type of floor and the characteristics of the project, will advise you and offer you the solution for your project.

STABILISATION OF PLASTIC SOILS: BINSOL AND BOREX

BINSOL is an ecological product for the stabilisation of clay soils of medium to high plasticity; and BOREX is an ecological BIO-product for the stabilisation of clay soils of high plasticity.

All our products are manufactured in the EU under strict quality controls, according to UNE, ASTM and ISO standards.
